日本国内で運転が認められる運転免許証

外国の免許をお持ちの方が、日本で運転する際には「国際運転免許証」もしくは「外国運転免許証（5カ国、1 地域に限る）+日本語翻訳文」が必要です。次のいずれかの免許証を所持している必要があります。

※有効な運転免許証を持たず、運転資格を持たない場合の事故の場合は、TANAAKKレンタカーが加盟している各種人損、物損の保障が受けられず、高額な賠償請求のリスクがあるため、以下の運転資格の取得をお願いします。

国内在住者

• 普通運転免許証

国外在住者（パターン１）

• パスポート
• 国際運転免許証
  • ジュネーブ条約加盟国がジュネーブ条約に基づき発行された型式のもの

国際運転免許証の確認

• サイズ：縦148 mm × 横105 mmですか？
• 発給国：ジュネーブ条約加盟国ですか？
• 条約名：CONVENTION ON ROAD TRAFFIC OF 19 SEPTEMBER 1949ですか？
  • ※パリ条約（1926）、ワシントン条約（1943）、ウィーン条約（1968）に基づく様式の国際運転免許証での運転は、日本国内では認められていません。
• 有効期限：発給年月日から1年以内ですか？
• 必要事項：姓、名、出身地、生年月日、住所は記載されていますか？
• 写真：顔写真は本人ですか？
• 運転可能車両区分：スタンプが押してありますか？
  • 普通乗用車区分Bに押印されていますか？

Driver’s Licenses in Japan

When driving in Japan with a foreign driver’s license, either an International Driving Permit (IDP) or a foreign driver’s license (limited to five countries and one region) with an official Japanese translation is required.
You must possess one of the following valid driving licenses.

⚠ If you do not have a valid license and driving qualification, any accidents you cause will not be covered by TANAAKK Rent-a-Car’s liability and damage insurance, and you may be subject to high-cost compensation claims.
Please ensure you meet one of the following qualifications before driving.

■ For Residents in Japan

• Japanese Driver’s License (Standard Class)

■ For Non-Residents – Pattern 1

• Passport
• International Driving Permit (IDP)
  • Must be issued in accordance with the Geneva Convention
  • [List of Geneva Convention Countries – Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department]
  • [Sample Format of Valid IDP – Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department]

■ For Non-Residents – Pattern 2

Obtain an official Japanese translation of your foreign driver’s license through an authorized translation application site.

• Passport
• Foreign Driver’s License
  • Valid only for license holders from the following five countries and one region:
    • Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, Taiwan
• Official Japanese Translation of License

■ IDP Validity Checklist

• Size: Is it 148 mm high × 105 mm wide?
• Issuing Country: Is it issued by a Geneva Convention country?
• Convention Name: Does it state:”CONVENTION ON ROAD TRAFFIC OF 19 SEPTEMBER 1949“?
  • 🚫 IDPs based on the Paris (1926), Washington (1943), or Vienna (1968) conventions are not valid for driving in Japan.
• Validity Period: Is it within 1 year from the issue date?
• Required Details: Does it include your surname, given name, place of birth, date of birth, and address?
• Photo: Is your face photo correctly printed?
• Vehicle Categories: Is the proper category stamp affixed?
  • For standard passenger vehicles: Category B

■ Before Your Ride

After making a reservation, please send a photo of your driver’s license and accompanying documents via the app chat or email. We will confirm in advance that there are no issues with your eligibility to drive.
